This Magic Green Smoothie Bowl Is Perfect For Detox

This green smoothie bowl is deliciously detoxifying. Avocado and spinach are great detox foods. Avocados are rich in essential fatty acids and these healthy fats are essential during a detox diet, because it promotes the release of bile from the gallbladder, allowing for the elimination of toxins from the body and fat-soluble vitamins. The omega-3 fatty acids in avocados help to keep your skin glowing from the inside out. It’s also good to eat more avocados in the colder months because they provide moisture to your skin.

Did you know that spinach has been proven to decrease sugar cravings throughout the day? Spinach also contains a powerful antioxidant, glutathione, which is one of the primary antioxidants your liver relies on to detoxify your body. We like to add berries to smoothies because they are low-glycemic and add a hint of sweetness. Blueberries are high in antioxidants, which help to protect your skin from free radicals, and rich in vitamin C.

We like to add coconut meat to smoothies instead of using bananas, so it’s perfect for cleansing. Using coconut meat provides a dense creaminess, similar to bananas, but they aren’t high in sugar. This way we avoid adding sugars but still get a creamy thick smoothie bowl. Avocados are a great substitute for bananas as well, and will keep you full a long time. If you need to add more sweetness because avocados and coconuts are less sweet, we recommend using 1-2 Medjool dates if desired.

This bowl is topped off with coconut flakes, fresh blueberries, and mulberries. Mulberries are another great low-glycemic food to incorporate into your diet. They make a great snack as well. They are chewy dried berries that are high in fiber. If you tend to crave other dried fruits with higher sugar contents like raisins or figs, these are a better alternative. You can add them to granola, raw snack bars, or trail mix recipes.
