Wish you could skip the Starbucks line (and the sugar crash) and enjoy your favorite lattes at home? These healthy Starbucks copycat recipes let you do just that.
We’ve reimagined three coffeehouse classics with no refined sugar or dairy. Just wholesome, cleanse-friendly ingredients that taste amazing and support steady energy.
Whether you’re craving pumpkin spice, matcha, or golden turmeric, these drinks prove you don’t have to sacrifice flavor for health. Grab your favorite mug and get cozy - your new go-to latte is waiting.
First up is our clean twist on Starbucks' most popular fall drink: the pumpkin spice latte. This cozy classic is full of warming spices like cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg. But it’s also loaded with dairy and sugar. One 12-ounce serving of the Starbucks version contains a whopping 38 grams of sugar, about the same as a can of Coke.
Our healthy pumpkin spice latte swaps almond milk for dairy and uses coconut nectar instead of sugary syrups. We’ve also chosen chicory as the coffee base for its gut health benefits. Chicory adds a rich, roasted flavor and contains inulin, a prebiotic fiber that feeds your friendly gut bacteria.1 The result is a warm, comforting drink that’s both nourishing and delicious.
Makes 2 servings
1. Add the chicory to a French press. Pour in 2 tbsp of hot water and brew for 3-4 minutes. If you don’t have a French press on hand, combine the chicory and water in a small saucepan and bring to a simmer. Then, turn off the heat and let it steep for 3-4 minutes. Once brewed, use a mesh strainer to divide the chicory into two mugs.
2. While the chicory brews, add the almond milk and pumpkin to a small saucepan. Heat over medium-low heat until warm (but not boiling).
3. Once warm, remove from the heat. Add the warm milk to a blender, along with the pumpkin pie spice, vanilla, and coconut nectar. Blend until creamy and frothy.
4. Pour the frothed mixture into the mugs over the chicory.
5. Add a sprinkle of cinnamon and a dollop of coconut cream if desired, and enjoy!
Our healthy matcha latte is a clean upgrade of the coffeehouse favorite. We start with Clean matcha, our organic ceremonial grade matcha powder. Packed with antioxidants, it delivers a smooth flavor and calm, jitter-free energy.
We’ve also added tocos powder to give this latte a silky texture, along with skin health benefits. Tocos, also known as rice bran solubles, are naturally rich in vitamin E, a nutrient that supports healthy skin.2
Coconut milk keeps this latte dairy-free and froths up beautifully. A touch of coconut nectar adds a gentle sweetness, without spiking your blood sugar. The result is a cozy, energizing drink that makes a great alternative to your morning coffee.
1. Combine the matcha, tocos, and coconut nectar into a mug.
2. Pour 2 tbsp of warm water over the matcha mixture. Mix well using a handheld frother or matcha whisk until smooth and no matcha clumps remain.
3. Warm milk in a medium saucepan over low heat. Once warm, froth using a handheld frother until foamy. For easier mixing, tilt the pan to a 45° angle. If using a frother, be sure your saucepan isn’t too small. Otherwise, it can make a mess. If you don’t have a frother, you can use a blender instead.
4. Pour the frothed milk over the matcha mixture and give it a stir. Serve immediately and enjoy!
A golden latte routine is a nourishing ritual to add to your day. While Starbucks doesn’t currently offer its Golden Turmeric Latte on its menu, they do have a DIY recipe on their website. Their version skips dairy and sugary syrups but uses oat milk and honey, which can spike your blood sugar.3
Our healthy golden turmeric latte keeps all the cozy flavor while being blood sugar-friendly. We start with Clean Golden Latte, a convenient spice blend with potent anti-inflammatory benefits. Adaptogenic mushrooms are also included to support cognitive and immune health.
Coconut milk gives the latte a creamy, frothy base, while being easier on your blood sugar than oat milk. A few drops of monk fruit add a touch of sweetness and keep this drink diabetes and keto-friendly.
Makes 1 serving
Note: If you don’t have any Golden Latte, you can substitute it for ½ tsp of turmeric, ¼ tsp of ginger, ¼ tsp of cinnamon, and a tiny pinch of pepper.
1. In a medium saucepan, add the coconut milk, Golden Latte, vanilla, and tocos. Heat on medium-low until warm (but not boiling).
2. Using a handheld frother, froth the mixture in the pan for about 30 seconds, or until foamy. If you don’t have a handheld frother, you can use a blender instead. Blend until smooth and emulsified.
3. Pour the golden milk into a mug and top with a sprinkle of cinnamon if desired. Enjoy!
