Get Purified With This Summery Peach Turmeric Smoothie

With celery, fermented turmeric, and peaches in this turmeric smoothie, it’s a super refreshing combo. The bright hue of this creamy smoothie is an immediate indication of the hydrating, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. We think you’ll be reaching for this recipe for the rest of the summer.

Summery peaches

Peaches are the ultimate summer fruit. You can enjoy this smoothie with fresh peaches when they’re in season, or get all of the flavor (and benefits) by using frozen peaches any time of year. Just one peach delivers about twenty percent of your daily vitamin C needs. This is important for the maintenance and growth of tissue throughout the body. It helps produce the protein that makes up much of our skin, ligaments, blood vessels, and tendons.

Peaches are also a good source of potassium, with one peach providing ten-percent of the daily recommended value. Potassium is important for balancing fluids. Electrolytes are specific minerals that are dissolved by the body and used to carry an electric charge through the system. Potassium is just one important electrolyte – sodium, chloride, and bicarbonate are others. All of these important minerals are critical for regulating muscle and nerve function.

Celery juice has become popular as an early morning drink, promising detoxification when consumed on an empty stomach. While juicing vegetables does have nutritional benefits, we far prefer smoothies since they keep the vegetable whole, thus keeping important nutrients like fiber intact. Celery contains a compound called 3-n-butylphthalide (BuPh), which helps to lower lipids like cholesterol.

Golden inflammation-fighter

Turmeric has a well-deserved reputation as a health-enhancing spice. One of its well-known compounds, called curcumin, is a primary reason turmeric has such a powerful impact on the body. It’s a type of antioxidant that is effective at fighting inflammation.
