Mind-Blowing Avocado Smoothie

Mind-Blowing Avocado Smoothie

An avocado smoothie gets you a rich, filling smoothie experience without the added sugar and calories from dairy and sugar. Thick, creamy, and rich with chocolate flavor, this smoothie is just as satisfying as any milkshake except it’s light, easy-to-digest, and nutrient-dense.

Avocado Smoothie Not Just For Cleanses

While no one is complaining about the taste of an ice cream chocolate shake, the dairy and sugar content in a typical milkshake can leave your body acidic and bloated. Our go-to recommendation for a satisfying ingredient on a cleanse is an avocado smoothie. On a cleanse, we eliminate bananas but feel free to add them to your Daily Shakes off the cleanse.

Mixing avocados with bananas creates a decadent craving-busting treat. The next time your sweet tooth comes knocking, try this shake out, and watch your cravings disappear.

Avocado Smoothie for a Double Dose of Potassium

Avocados and bananas are both potassium-rich, giving you a double dose in this smoothie. Potassium-rich foods promote an alkaline environment in the body, which helps ward off inflammation and disease. Potassium is responsible for regulating fluid and mineral balance in our bodies, and so getting adequate amounts through our diet each day is important.

When we sweat, our body releases potassium, so consuming potassium rich foods when exercising is even more crucial. We recommend trying this smoothie after your next workout to help prevent muscle cramping and fatigue.

Did We Mention the Chocolate in this Avocado Smoothie?

Got a hankering for chocolate? The satisfying dose of chocolate in our avocado smoothie comes with benefits cacao without the downfall of sugary, calorie-rich conventional chocolate.

Unsweetened raw cacao gives this shake the rich chocolate flavor we love and is naturally rich in flavonoids, which are antioxidants that fight free radicals, promote health, and prevent disease. Cacao is even denser in antioxidants than both green tea and red wine! Consuming antioxidants like the ones found in cacao has been shown to slow the aging process by assisting our body in removing free radicals, which are a byproduct of natural metabolic functions and exposure to external toxins.

Cacao is high in magnesium, a crucial mineral that less that two-thirds of U.S. adults don’t get enough of. Choosing raw cacao is important since processing cacao damages many of the delicate nutrients that can be damaged by roasting and other heating processes.

Avocado Smoothie

1 Chocolate Daily Shake packet

1/2 cup raw cashews, soaked

2 large dates (or 3 small), pitted

1 avocado

1 banana, fresh or frozen

2 tbsp. raw cacao powder

pinch sea salt

1 1/2 cups coconut milk

1/2 cup ice cubes

Serves: 2

Place raw cashews into a bowl. Cover with warm water and let sit for at least 20 minutes. You can let them sit overnight if you want to limit morning prep time.

While nuts soak, prepare ingredients. Cut the avocado in half, remove pit and scoop out meat. Remove the peel, and slice the banana in half. Cut the dates in half, and remove pits. Drain and rinse cashews.

Add all the ingredients to a blender and blend for about 45 seconds, or until a thick, creamy texture is achieved. Pour into two glasses and enjoy immediately!
