Post-Workout Smoothie With Moringa

Post-Workout Smoothie With Moringa

When you first glance at moringa powder you may mistake it for matcha, thanks to its rich green color. While these are two different supplements, moringa is proving to have as many noteworthy benefits for the body. Even healthy choices like exercise can cause inflammation, which may be part of the reason you feel fatigued and sore after a particularly tough workout. That’s why we created this post-workout smoothie.

Moringa as a post-workout supplement

Moringa is also sometimes referred to as the “miracle tree.” It has been used medicinally for centuries because of its many powerful compounds. It contains vitamin A, thiamine (B1), riboflavin (B2), niacin (B6), folate, calcium, potassium, iron, magnesium, and phosphorus. With its mild taste and a long list of nutritional properties, moringa will quickly become a pantry staple.

Moringa promotes liver health

Moringa has been studied for its ability to help prevent damage to the liver. Specifically, it has been shown to help increase and maintain glutathione levels in the body, which is a powerful antioxidant naturally occurring in animals and humans. This powerful impact on the body is thanks to the high catechin, ferulic acid, and vitamin C levels in moringa. These are all important phytonutrients that help promote overall wellness.

Improved hair, skin, and nail health

Moringa has a hydrating and detoxifying effect in the body, both when applied topically and when consumed as food. The antioxidant compounds in moringa help to fight pollutant and external toxins, and their impact on the health and appearance of the skin, hair, and nails. This can help prevent premature aging by decreasing visual signs of skin damage like fine lines. It has also been shown to help the body detoxify heavy metals, which can speed up aging when not properly detoxed.

Moringa can help keep the common cold at bay

Moringa has a positive impact on immunity. Similar to garlic, moringa helps stimulate the immune system when digested. By activating the immune system, it helps keep the body in better alert for potential infections like the common cold. Specifically, moringa has been shown to increase leucocyte count and antibodies which helps the body fight illness.

Moringa can help reduce inflammation

We often hear about “inflammation” as a negative. Inflammation is actually a very necessary and natural reaction by the body to certain stressors like pollutants or injury. While inflammation is not always bad (we rely on it when we injure our body, for instance), it’s simply the amount of inflammation modern lifestyles cause that becomes an issue. By choosing anti-inflammatory foods like moringa, we can help speed up healing to better reap the benefits of a good workout. This post-workout moringa smoothie is nourishing and beneficial.
