No-bake energy balls are chewy nourishing bites packed with protein and free radical fighting antioxidants. They make a perfect pre-workout boost, an afternoon snack, or even an easy breakfast on the go. Best of all, they are easy-to-make and cleanse-approved!
Star ingredient, matcha is filled with antioxidants and L-Theanine, which raises our dopamine and serotonin levels helping elevate our mood without causing you to crash afterwards. The energising properties of matcha helps to keep us focused yet relaxed unlike coffee, which can give you the jitters.
Not all matcha is created equally. There are many processed brands that aren’t considered ceremonial grade matcha. Many brands also include sugar in their blends, so it’s best to always check the label before purchasing.
We recommend finding ceremonial grade matcha for our no-back energy balls to receive optimal health benefits. Higher quality matcha has a smoother, less bitter taste and comes from one of the two regions in Japan known for their quality matcha — Nishio city in Aichi prefecture and Uji city in Kyoto.
Studies have also shown that matcha can increase our bodies’ ability to burn fat by up to four times a normal level. That’s why we have included thermogenic green tea and organic ginger in our new cleanse shakes to help increase metabolism on the cleanse. Matcha and ginger combined in our no-back energy balls provide a boost of healing energy!
These bites contain anti-inflammatory healthy fats from sources of Omega-3’s along with cinnamon which can help control blood sugar and cravings ensuring snack-time doesn’t interfere with your results.
Making these ahead of time and having them on hand to snack on during the week is a great simple option. And they only take 5 minutes to make!
Makes 12-14 balls
Ingredients:
¾ cup raw cashews
¼ cup raw pistachios, unsalted
12 Medjool dates, pitted
¼ cup shredded coconut
1 Tbsp matcha
1 Tbsp coconut oil
¼ tsp ginger powder
¼ tsp ground cinnamon
¼ cup pistachios, chopped (for topping)
Directions:
Place all the ingredients except the pistachios for the topping into a food processor and pulse until mixture is smooth and combined.
Make generous 1 Tbsp sized balls. Rub coconut oil on your hands before rolling to make sure they don’t stick.
Finally, roll the energy bites in the chopped pistachios and roll them again gently to make sure the pistachio pieces stick.
