Makes about 18 small brownies

½ cup almond butter

½ cup raw cacao

1 cup unsweetened applesauce

1-2 tablespoons coconut sugar

1 teaspoon alcohol-free vanilla extract

Coconut oil for greasing the pan

Optional add-ins: cacao nibs, coconut flakes, walnuts

Grease a 9-inch square pan with a bit of coconut oil. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Mix together the almond butter, cacao, applesauce, coconut sugar, vanilla extract and any additional add-ins in one medium-sized mixing bowl.

Pour mixture into greased pan and bake for 35-40 minutes. You’ll know that they are done when you can stick a knife in the middle and it comes out clean.

Allow the brownies to cool completely.

Cut them into about 1 inch squares, or to desired size. They should still be soft, fragile and deliciously fudgy.
