A major part of both the Clean 21 and Clean 7 recommends that one meal a day is in liquid format. Dr. Junger, Founder of Clean Program, recommends this because digestion takes a lot of energy for the body to process and breakdown foods. We all have experienced the feeling of being tired after a heavy meal, or feeling bloated when after we eat. Allowing the body to rest and easily absorb nutrients in the format of a smoothie is both an efficient and beneficial way to maintaining good health, strong digestion and allowing the body time to process food. As we enter warmer months, making smoothies will feel delightful, try this fabulous smoothie recipe that combines healthy fats, plant-based proteins, and only takes a few moments to make, which makes it perfect for an on-the-go breakfast or meal!
