Meet The Clean Team

The most supportive team in the world

Dr. Alejandro junger

Medical Doctor, Creator of the
Clean Program

Founder of the Clean Program, Dr.Junger was born in Uruguay. He graduated from medical school there in 1990 and moved to New York City for his postgraduate training. He completed three years of training in Internal Medicine at NYU Downtown Hospital and three more years of fellowship in Cardiovascular Diseases at Lenox Hill Hospital.

The drastic change in lifestyle and diet resulting from his move to New York City soon showed up as irritable bowel syndrome and depression. Becoming a patient of the system he was practicing was such a shock, that it started his journey in search of an alternative solution to his health problems.

His findings are the subject of his first book, Clean: The Revolutionary Program To Restore the Body’s Natural Ability to Heal Itself, where Dr. Junger describes how he became aware of the toxicity of our planet. He also explains how detoxification and cleansing have been around for thousands of years, but the knowledge has been lost, and right now it’s more important than ever to reclaim this information. Most importantly, Clean is a manual for readers to learn how to turn on and work with their own detoxification systems to restore and maintain optimal health.

Favorite Shake Recipe: Anything with CleanGreens.

Friends & Family I've Coached Through the Clean Program: Wow. Where do I begin. Let's just say that everyone I know is either on the cleanse or about to do the cleanse.

First Experience on the Clean Program: 2009, right when I met Dr Junger and was considering joining his mission/vision.

Favorite Shake Recipe: I keep it pretty simple! Almond milk + organic frozen blueberries + chocolate Nourish = awesome!

Friends & Family I've Coached Through the Clean Program: Mom, dad, both my older and younger sisters, about 10+ aunts, uncles and cousins. Maybe 40+ friends. That ish cray!

He designs and implements systems that allow businesses to run at maximum efficiency. He has created businesses in fields ranging from asbestos removal, denim jeans, the popular Café Café in NYC’s SoHo, and now Clean. He believes that business should be a vehicle for consciousness, and should be guided by the principles of integrity, fairness, quality, social justice, and environmental impact.

First Experience on the Clean Program: I first did the program with Dr. Junger in January of 2009. I experienced a very clear mind, attention and focused increased and really light on my feet. Full of energy - and it was really steady. I kicked the coffee habit and have not gone back since! My hair became healthier, eyes were whiter, and skin cleared and glowed. .

Favorite Shake Recipe: Unsweetened Almond Milk, 1 scoop of Nourish Vanilla, a handful of Blueberries, 1/4 to half a mango, handful of Pineapple, 1 spoon Clean Greens, 1 spoon Raw Cacao powder and sometimes some coconut oil

Friends & Family I've Coached Through the Clean Program: I've taken just about everyone I know through the program. Really! My plumber, electrician, and of course all my family! Mother, brothers and sisters. My favorite story was my sisters'! She had been under hormonal treatments for 14 years and had put on excess weight which she could not lose. She did the program and kept to our "Shake a day" principle afterwards and lost over 50 pounds! It was amazing!

Community Support Team

Kaya Purohit

Is passionate about entertainment and filmmaking as well as health and nutrition and one day thought to herself, “Why not combine both?” Even though she came to Clean with the intention of combining media and health, Kaya has found that her favorite part of Clean is building relationships with fellow community members who are eager to share their stories and are dedicated to being the best they can possibly be, both inside and out!

First Experience on the Clean Program: My first experience on the Clean Program was life changing. I was never one to try a cleansing program or any sort of diet, but I knew that I needed to do something to improve my mental and physical health. The Clean Program provided me with the perfect amount of structure and flexibility to create lifelong change. I will always remember the extreme energy spikes I experienced on my first cleanse. I was so elated by the new found energy, that I would literally run from one task to another. Thinking about it makes me want to start my next 21 days right now!

Favorite Shake Recipe: A cup of almond milk,Half a cup of frozen blueberries or raspberries, 1 tbsp of organic raw coconut butter, 1 tbsp of clean greens, 1 scoop of nourish (vanilla or chocolate), and Half a cup of matcha green tea (as the base).

Friends & Family I've Coached Through the Clean Program:I coached my best friend through the program, and it was such a rewarding experience. It was nice to be able to support my friend in a different way and answer all of her questions. We also did the program at the same time, so the person who drinks all those glasses of wine with me was drinking smoothies with me instead. How lovely!

John enjoys hiking, backpacking, camping, percussion, art, and mindful living. He hopes that Clean will help provide a pathway to lifestyles of wellness and mindfulness for the sustainability of humanity. Two words to describe him would be: conscious manifestation.

First Experience on the Clean Program:I felt a bit underprepared for the Elimination Diet part of my pre-cleanse, but once I started the actual cleanse with shakes and supplements it was very easy for me. I did find out afterwards that I'm sensitive to tomatoes and other nightshades, even though I had eaten them for years!

Favorite Shake Recipe: 1 Scoop Nourish (chocolate), 1 Scoop Move 1/2 cup frozen blueberries, 2 dashes cinnamon, 1 Tbsp. Almond butter and 8oz of water / Almond Milk

Robert Domingo

Actually started as a patient of Dr. Junger’s in June 2009. He weighed 240 pounds, was taking two medications for high blood pressure, one medication for high cholesterol, and the doctor he was seeing at the time wanted to put him on diabetes medication for the rest of his life. Dr. Junger put him on the Clean Program during their initial consultation. After 21 days on the program, Robert lost 18.25 lbs, stopped taking the medications, and never reached the diabetic state. After 102 days on a modified program, he had lost over 61 pounds.

Six months after the initial meeting, Robert’s life was completely changed.

Currently, Robert’s major interest is exploring how to live Clean in between detoxification programs. He enjoys creating spontaneous, yet disciplined forms of work and play, being in nature, creative expression in all forms, and the challenge of bringing full presence to all situations.

First Experience on the Clean Program: I did the CLEAN Program as a patient of Dr. Junger's in 2009. Under Dr. Junger's care, I was able to stop the prescription medications I was taking for high blood pressure and high cholesterol, and I didn't have to start diabetes medication.

Favorite Shake Recipe: - Nourish Chocolate (1 scoop), Move (1 scoop), Clean Greens (1 tablespoon), frozen blueberries, lacinato kale (washed, stems removed), unsweetened almond milk or hemp milk (enough to make it "pour-able"), almond butter (1 tablespoon, optional)

Bonnie was born west coast and raised east coast and continues to do so in SC. If Bonnie's not at her local yoga studio, you can bet you will find her at the closest venue catching some local live music and making new friends or in her kitchen experimenting with some new super clean recipes. Bonnie has a communications degree from College of Charleston; however, her real education has been through her post college experiences and self exploration. She has backpacked around the world, volunteered through WOOF and apprenticed under midwives where she became a certified doula and began to realize her passion for holistic healing. Her passion is simple - people. Bonnie's mission is to empower people to take control of their own health. With Clean she supports people through their journey of self empowerment and healing with our Clean Support Team. Bonnie believes that to empower one with the understanding of their own health is life changing, to share that power can change the world.

First Experience on the Clean Program: I read the book and had my weekly planner organized to a T.. then I realized I am more of a everything but the kitchen sink kind of girl. I loved the shakes and found lunch to be a religious ceremony of solid food. The cleanse deepened my connection to food and also shed light on sensitivities I was unaware of- gluten, soy, and dairy intolerant for the past 26 years. Cutting out these three things from my diet has changed my overall health dramatically! I continue to stick pretty closely to the ED-except I do indulge in local raw honey :)... Clean is my jam!

Favorite Shake Recipe: Bonnie's Black Forest Shake - 12 oz unsweetened coconut milk, 1Tbsp raw cacao, 1 Tbsp RAW almond butter, 5 frozen organic black cherries, 1tsp vanilla extract, 1scoop move, 1scoop nourish-chocolate, 1 tsp of Clean Greens, cinnamon (to taste). Optional: 1 tsp chopped ginger, 1 Tsp unsweetened coconut flakes.

Hema was born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya and moved to England in 1984. In 1986 she was transferred to the Philadelphia by her employer as a Specialist Travel Consultant on Africa, where she continued to promote tours to her beloved continent. When offered the opportunity to join the Clean Program team, driven with her passion for maintaining optimal health through living a "clean life" she was convinced this was her next calling to make a difference. With a vision of continuing to contribute to society, she joined this amazing organization in 2011.

First Experience on the Clean Program: I discovered my body likes to "produce and nurture constantly" so when it stopped producing babies it started growing less desirable things - like tumors!! With help from my loving personal wellness coach (Dhrumil - CEO of Clean) I learnt I could control my health by making better food choices. Over a period of 12 years I have done various cleanses including being 100% raw for over a year. My first time doing The Clean program in 2011, was the easiest - you can get so creative and achieve amazing results: incredible clarity, energy and an overwhelming sense of well being.

Favorite Shake Recipe: - 1 glass of unsweetened almond or a mixture of almond and coconut milk, 1 scoop of chocolate nourish, 1/4 avocado or banana (when I'm not doing the Cleanse), 1/4 cup of fresh or frozen mango, 1/4 tsp of cinnamon, 1 or 2 chopped figs, 5-6 leaves of fresh mint, 1/2 cup of baby spinach. In the summer months 1/4 cup of crushed ice. Blend and sip away!

Friends & Family I've Coached Through the Clean Program: I've coached several friends and family members through the Clean Program. The most amazing one was coaching my husband through the program. Growing up in an environment where food played a major social role (lots of rich oily food), he would justify the unhealthy eating by saying "you only lives once!" Recently, he voluntarily decided he would do the program with me and blew my mind with his determination and discipline and has continued to eat mindfully since.

Debbie Young was diagnosed with Chronic lymphocytic leukemia in 2007 at the age of 47. After being given no more than ten years to live and with two kids at home she started researching ways to heal the cancer and live as long as possible. She began blogging about her journey at Debbie Does Raw.

A two year raw vegan lifestyle brought many improvements but then started to worsen her health. The discovery of the Weston A Price Foundation took her on a healing path that included real whole food cooking. After nearly five years, she is still at stage zero and hopes to live her full lifespan thanks to eating real food. Debbie joined the Clean Team in December 2011 as the Clean Community Site Guide.

First Experience on the Clean Program: Doing Clean made me feel clearer, lighter and ready for anything!

Favorite Shake Recipe: - I love mango, almond milk, vanilla nourish and some ginger. With a touch of sea salt it is sweet and spicy!

Friends & Family I've Coached Through the Clean Program: I am coaching the Community Site through it every day. My sister is ready to start soon and I am coaching her. It's fun to see the breakthrough day when the good feelings just flood in.

First Experience on the Clean Program: My first experience on Clean was amazing. It was in the cold Northern winter months and I invented warm shakes (Nourish and Move mixed with almond butter, some green powders, cinnamon and hot water) which kept me happy cleansing in the cold! I've done the program countless times since, constantly experimenting and always discovering new levels of the journey.

Favorite Shake Recipe: I call it the Grasshopper; it's mint chocolate deliciousness and so energizing and cleansing. 3/4 of a mason jar full of coconut or almond milk, 2-3 Tablespoons of almond butter, a few macadamia nuts (for crunch and creaminess), a heaping spoonful of Clean Greens or spirulina, several large squirts of liquid mint flavored chlorophyll, and a handful of local organic greens (chard, spinach or kale). Blend until smooth and creamy. Yum!

Friends & Family I've Coached Through the Clean Program: I've coached a large handful of friends and some family members through the cleanse and they've all loved it. Sometimes they're nearby so I can make meals for them which I love! It's amazing to see their transformations and witness their excitement; to see people you love reach new and incredible levels.

Jessi Heinze

Lover of community, learning, and believes that life is a celebration! She hopes to help others ignite a spark in their own lives through better health.

First Experience on the Clean Program: My favorite thing about my first 21 day cleanse was gaining a better understanding of what works well for my body. I found that I slept better with a lighter meal for dinner, had more energy through the day with a healthy portion of fats and protein in my breakfast, and I started to become much more in tune with my body. Post-cleanse, I realized I have a gluten sensitivity which has really changed my diet and my energy levels!

Favorite Shake Recipe: Mocha Delight - 1 scoop Chocolate Nourish, 1 scoop Move, 8-10 ounces Mocha teecino, 4 -6 ounces almond or coconut milk, 2 tbsp cacao powder, 1-2 tbsp hemp seed, 1 tbsp coconut oil, 1 cup cherries (fresh or frozen), 1 cup spinach

Having moved from coast to coast to receive degrees in Human Ecology and Landscape Architecture, she has now settled in upstate New York with her husband and son.

First Experience on the Clean Program: I did the cleanse before I became a wellness coach for Clean. Although I had done many other elimination diets and experiments with my diet, Clean was different - I felt fantastic. The timing was perfect because it helped me prepare for my pregnancy with my son, whom I conceived a couple of weeks later.

Favorite Shake Recipe: Chocolate Covered Blueberries: Chocolate Nourish Move, Large handful of frozen blueberries, Handful of spinach, dash of cinnamon, TB of raw cacao, 2 tb almond butter, 1/2 coconut milk, 1/2 coconut water (as much as you need for your blender) or you could replace the coconut water with green tea. I sometimes use raspberry green tea (cold). Dash of stevia to taste.

Friends & Family I've Coached Through the Clean Program: My mom did it with me the first time I did Clean. This past fall I took my husband through it too. They both have changed the way they eat as a result such as incorporating daily shakes and taking supplements to support their digestive health and my husband's digestion, mood and blood pressure improved greatly.
